Gratitude has often been encouraged by spiritual leaders throughout history. Today scientists also confirm the benefits of gratitude. Through research, the scientifically-validated benefits of gratitude have become better understood.
Research shows how keeping a regular gratitude journaling increases one’s happiness. It also helps decrease inflammation in one’s body. Each study offers insights into how a person can improve their overall health and wellbeing.
While journaling is proven to be beneficial, some find it difficult to maintain, especially during a busy time of life…like the holidays! But that doesn’t mean we need to give up on the idea. We just need to get creative!
Today’s challenge is:
Make a gratitude jar.
Don’t overthink this!
Get a clean jar, any jar will do for now (you may even have one in the recycling). The key is to get it started. You can perfect the process as you go.
Just one thing.
Fold the paper and put it into the jar.
Watch the jar and your heart fill with gratitude …because they will!
Rehearsing gratitude opens our eyes to see the abundance around us. Common, everyday occurrences are suddenly to seem special, even amazing.
Keeping it in a jar will make it a visual reminder. Not only will you see it, you will feel better because of it!
