SUNDAY WORKSHOP Tried and True Adjustments All Yoga Teachers Should Know ( + The Posture Right In Front of You)
May 5th ~ 1:00pm – 5:00pm $75
Adjustments are physical interactions between yoga teacher and practitioner. Adjustments can teach about the asana, the practitioner’s physiological habits, and how to refine the asana to create stability and open space in the body. Learning to make safe, suitable and valuable adjustments requires knowledge of postural anatomy and presence to observe and connect with your students. This workshop will cover the basic principles of adjustments, discuss examples and suggestions for how to overcome their challenges and offer a chance for all participants to practice giving, receiving and offering feedback on adjustments.
Learn and/or review basic adjustments for warrior poses, forward folds, backward bends and twists. Guide your students safely into balances and inversions. There will be plenty of practice time.
Once comfortable with the basics of physical adjustments, we can approach the subtleties of tailoring our adjustments to the specific student and the present moment through observation and physical conversation. The best adjustments work with existing and intended qualities of each posture. During the final hour, we will spend time looking at asanas from different angles to create many possible physical adjustments for the same posture!
