On the last Saturday of April, thousands of people join in a unified t’ai chi practice across the globe.
Beginning at 10AM in the earliest time zones of New Zealand, a ripple of energy moves over the earth, reaching over 80 nations and 100’s of cities until it reaches the shores of Hawaii. While only 20% of the word’s population practices t’ai chi, it is quickly growing in its popularity, both because of its benefits and its accessibility.
T’ai chi, a martial art form, and Qigong (both offered at Body Moves!) are slow-moving studies in meditation that require a person to be alert yet relaxed in body and mind. These exercises encourage our muscles and minds to release tension in order to open up our energy (qi) flow. Although relatively simple in form, these practices offer many varied and complex benefits.
