Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style in which poses are held for prolonged periods of time (3-5 minutes), increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility while quieting the mind. Body Moves is delighted to welcome Chicago area yoga instructor Meridyth Morgan Patrick to lead this 2 hour Yin Yoga workshop. Click HERE to reserve your space.
Meridyth’s Bio: I started practicing yoga ten years ago when I was 19 years old. I had never been an active person, I was tall and skinny and shy, and I had developed a kyphotic posture that began to scare me. I realized that instead of poor posture I was in danger of a deformity. It took great courage for me to go to my first yoga class; but the kindness and non-judgmental approach of my instructor encouraged me. The practice of yoga transformed me. Not just by straightening my back, but by providing me with new confidence and showing me the benefits of mind/body wellness. In 2011, I knew I wanted to share this transformative power with others. I took a teacher training from James Miller Yoga and developed a dedicated self-practice. As a teacher I have been humbled and amazed by the transformation I witness in my students. To help them achieve balance, decrease stress, build strength and confidence, overcome self-doubt, and find peace in meditation has been overwhelming.
My classes focus on alignment, energy direction, breath, and deepening self-awareness. I approach each class as a unique experience in the present moment, offering compassionate and joyful guidance to help students delve deeper, challenge their boundaries, keep their humor while balancing, and remember to breathe.
Teaching Philosophy: Yoga is a way of life. It is an accessible mind/body practice for all body types, all ages, and all fitness levels. Students of yoga are questing individuals full of courage and grace. Namasté
